I’m S. M. Berry: local cryptid and vampire enthusiast, photographer, writer, and art history nerd.

One day in the summer of 2020, a thought about what if Mothman was actually a vampire popped in to my head and sent me on an adventure of a lifetime writing a book about such a thing.

I plan on sharing the rest of the journey of publishing said book here, in my monthly newsletter and blog, with y’all. Not to mention all the other random thoughts, visuals, music and feelings I have about my degree, my writing, and my photography.

My work is steeped in Midwest Gothic, with a side of offbeat and weird. It toes the line of literary and genre, dark and light, urban and fantasy. Not to mention, a heavy dose of aesthetics.
